Actually if we want to talk about sexism, the C-Plot of sabotage was the worst. I can’t believe they tried to shame Alli for going after her goals. W-T-F?!
I didn’t compare them as issues. I compared them in how the writers viewed what those issues meant to the characters. The writers seem to believe that Clare’s sexual harassment is something that is equally of issue to Eli and Clare which is why part 2 was told from Eli’s perspective. But it’s not. And it’s a major slap in the face to victims of this type of harassment.
I suspect that some of my followers were disappointed that I did not enjoy Sabotage. And it’s not that you guys deserve some explanation for that because frankly I am entitled to my opinion but I feel like this episode was important enough to discuss in length. I’ve already prefaced this with my prediction post about Sabotage which unfortunately became a reality. Ultimately I don’t even know why I’m so baffled by the events of the episode. Degrassi will always have the stench of misogyny on it, but I thought after Waterfalls this episode would be different. Or maybe I was just being sexist in assuming an episode that was written by a woman would feel the need to put a girl’s feelings about being sexually harassed before her boyfriend’s feelings on the subject or a completely different issue all together. Yes, my fault for making assumptions based a writer’s gender.
I’m not going to complain about Sabotage anymore until I re-watch it properly tomorrow. I’m probably just being hard on the episode.
wow! wow!
This episode was hysterical!
It was like watching a crazy fanfic come to life.
And I don’t mean that in a good way at all.
ha! I can’t bring myself to hate it because it was so bad it was almost good.
My real name? Why thank you! I’ll tell my mother you said so.
I didn’t even know they had posted one but I do know the website so…
